A). Let's face the reality-you know it takes meeting a number of people before you find someone you click with. But how do you meet them? Bars, blind dates, or online? Speed dating is a fun way to meet a lot of other singles in the DMV area, who are also looking to find someone special. Participants are all seated at different tables while the men (or women-LGBT speed dating events) rotate every 6 minutes until everyone has met. At the end of each 6 minutes "mini-date", a whistle is blown and participants secretly select YES or NO on their scorecards. In order to have a perfect match, both participants have to select YES on their scorecards. At the end of the evening, all scorecards are collected by the hosts. You will receive your perfect matches the next day via email whether you had successful matches or not.

A) Remember, you are not on a date. Spending 6 minutes with each person is a great way to see if you are interested in a full date. It gives you a chance to actually “see” them and determine if there is any physical chemistry, plus spending 6 minutes with someone is usually enough time to decide if you want to get to know them better. And if you are not sure, we suggest selecting YES. You never know what can happen on a second date.

A) It is natural to arrive a little nervous to a speed dating event, particularly if you have never been speed dating before. Most of our participants are first timers, so relax and smile. Everyone is on the same boat – they want to meet new people just like you. Our events are fun and easy going, so come with an open mind and a big smile. Feel free to contact us prior to the event. Your hosts, Dr. Dan and Marketa, will make you feel comfortable.

A) The best dating advice we can give is to dress to impress. Dress as if you were going on a first date. After all, you are going on multiple first dates all in one night! First impressions really count at speed dating and singles parties. If you are wearing something that makes you feel attractive, you will naturally exude confidence. Others will recognize it and will find your confidence appealing. But make sure you are comfortable as well. And don’t forget to wear your smile!

A) Expect to have fun in a relaxed environment. Please arrive on time. Our event will start promptly at designated time. If you arrive late, we may not be able to put you into the rotation. If you are running late or cannot attend, please call or text us. The biggest challenge is to have as close as possible women/men ratio so your presence is very important to us and all participants. Upon arrival, you will receive your scorecard and name tag. Most people then order a drink and relax until the event starts. After the event, scorecards are returned to the hosts and you are welcome to stay on chatting to the people you have just met. You will have a fun night. Just come out and try it!

A) There is no reason to feel awkward about attending our events alone. In fact, the majority of our participants come alone. Our hosts will make you feel very comfortable so no worries.

A) Yes, your email will simply state that there were no matches for you. If this happens, do not sweat it. Remember, it takes two to tango as they say. Everyone has a preference, including you! Everyone will receive an e-mail within 24 hours of the event. In case you did not hear from us, please contact us. It is possible we do not have your correct e-mail address or our result e-mail went to your spam folder.

A) Once you receive your matches, it is up to you to contact them or wait for them to contact you. Remember, you already know the other person is interested in hearing from you. And what if they do not reply? Simply try one more time. Sometimes people go on vacation or do not check their e-mail every day so give it a few days. We encourage all to be courteous and reply to even participants even if their mind and do not want to meet again.

A) Each event is priced differently but our regular price for Speed Dating is $25 via Eventbrite or our website. The price at the door is $30 (cash only). We encourage all participants to register early as many events sell out. If you register but cannot come, please let us know in advance so we can add people from our waiting list. And remember, an RSVP will not secure a spot for you. Be sure to register early!

A) We understand you are busy and sometimes things come up. If you cannot make it to our event, please contact the hosts. If you cancel 72 hours or more in advance of the event date we will refund your payment. If you cancel less than 72 hours of the event you will be charged but you will receive a Lightning Speed Dating Voucher you can use toward a future event. You can even transfer this credit to a single friend if you don't want to use it for some reason! If you cancel less than 24 hours of the event, you are charged as it is extremely difficult for us to replace you, however, if you have a friend to take your place that will work, just let us know the name. We strive to offer you the best experience possible. This means ensuring we have a full-field of participants and equal numbers of men and women. If you are a no-show and do not contact us prior to the event so we can get someone to fill your spot, then your registration fee is non-refundable. We take our events seriously and we know your time and the time of everyone who attends is valuable and we respect that. In case of event cancellation due to weather or other circumstances, you will receive a full refund.
